TOUR “The places of IPPOLITO NIEVO”

The historical-literary Tour dedicated to the discovery of the writer and patriot Ippolito Nievo will start from Portogruaro, subject of funny passages from “Confessions of an Italian man”, to explore together with an expert guide the “calli” (typical narrow streets) and the breathtaking views of the Lemene river. Then you will reach by bus the Ippolito Nievo Literary Museum at the “Cortino di Fratta”, an evocative place surrounded by nature where the “Castle of Fratta”, house of Carlino and Pisana in the first chapters of the famous Nievo’s novel is set. After a succulent themed lunch with traditional Venetian dishes, you will continue with a visit to Cordovado and to the Mills of Stalis, little pearls of the resurgence environment between Veneto and Friuli.

Winter Variant

9:30: Welcome at Piazza Castello in Portogruaro, where the bus will be waiting; walk through the centre of Portogruaro and along the river Lemene, while listening to some passages referred the town from Ippolito Nievo’s novel;

11:15: Departure by bus to Fratta di Fossalta di Portogruaro;

11:30: Visit to the “Cortino” of the Castle of Fratta and Ippolito Nievo Literary Museum;

13:00: Lunch at the restaurant “Rosetta” in Alvisopoli of Fossalta di Portogruaro;

14:15: Historical-naturalistic contextualization of the “ideal town” of Alvisopoli;

14:45: Departure to Cordovado, passing by Teglio Veneto with some notes about the Venetian historical Villas;

15:00: Cordovado, Visit to the ancient Parish Church of Sant’Andrea and to Provedoni House, with reading of passages from Nievo’s novel;

15:30: Visit to the Fountain of Venchieredo;

16:10: Visits to the Mills of Stalis in Gruaro;

16:40: Departure for the journey back to Portogruaro;

17:00: Arrival at Piazza Castello, Portogruaro
